Date: 6th December 2025
Venue: Finolex Pipes & Fittings, Ratnagiri
The Department of Mechatronics of Loknete Shamrao Peje Government College of Engineering, Ratnagiri, in collaboration with the Mechatronix Students Association (MXSA), organized an industrial visit to Finolex Pipes & Fittings, Ratnagiri on 6th December 2025. The visit was conducted under the guidance of Head Of The Department S. G. Akojwar, accompanied by Prof. V. S. Jadhav, Mr. C. R. Jadhav, and Mrs. Devi Priya, who supported and supervised the students throughout the program.
Key Learning Highlights-:
Captive Power Plant-:
A major highlight of the visit was the detailed tour of the captive power plant, where students observed how the facility ensures uninterrupted power supply for its extensive manufacturing operations. They learned about power generation mechanisms, load management, and the significance of energy efficiency in sustaining industrial productivity.
Distributed Control System (DCS) Unit-:
Students also explored the plant’s advanced Distributed Control System (DCS). They gained first-hand experience with real-time monitoring dashboards, automated control loops, safety interlocks, and communication between sensors, actuators, and central controllers. This exposure deepened their understanding of automation, instrumentation, and system integration—key elements of Mechatronics engineering.
Broader Industrial Exposure-:
Beyond the major systems, students observed several manufacturing processes, material-handling systems, and automation technologies used in the production of pipes and fittings. Their discussions with industry professionals offered valuable insights into process optimization, quality control, and industrial-scale workflow management.
